Rush Creek Lodge Near Yosemite: Spa Days, Glass Blowing & a Perfect Mountain Escape

Just outside Yosemite National Park’s Big Oak Flat Entrance, Rush Creek Lodge & Spa is the kind of place that makes you want to slow down, unplug, and actually stay awhile. Equal parts mountain retreat and activity-packed resort, Rush Creek balances adventure with comfort — and does it effortlessly.

Rush Creek Lodge is dog friendly and the perfect place to stay for hiking inside and outside of Yosemite National Park. Check out our post on hiking trails with your dog along Highway 120 and in Yosemite.

From a serene day spa to surprisingly good dining and a hands-on glass blowing experience, this lodge is more than just a place to sleep near Yosemite. It’s a destination in its own right.

A Prime Yosemite Location Without the Crowds

Rush Creek Lodge sits minutes from Yosemite National Park, making early morning park access easy while still offering a quieter, forest-filled setting once you return for the evening. Tall pines, fresh mountain air, and wide-open outdoor spaces give the property that classic Sierra Nevada lodge feel — but with modern amenities that elevate the stay.

The Rush Creek Spa: A Yosemite-Inspired Reset

After a long day of hiking, exploring waterfalls, or winding scenic drives through the park, the Rush Creek Spa feels like a reward you’ve earned.

Designed to reflect Yosemite’s natural elements, the spa includes:

  • Aromatherapy steam room
  • Himalayan salt-block dry sauna
  • Heated waterfall coves
  • Sensory showers and mist rooms
  • Granite waterfall mineral hot tub
  • Indoor-outdoor relaxation spaces

You can book treatments or opt for a spa day pass, making it an ideal stop even if you’re staying nearby. We also choose the spa day pass option and spent the day at the resort while staying at a cabin in Pine Mountain Lake. The atmosphere is calming, restorative, and exactly what tired trail legs need. A plus is that you can order food and drinks from the Tavern and have it delivered to lounge chairs in the spa – trust us, it’s amazing.

The Restaurant & Tavern

Rush Creek’s Restaurant serves hearty, seasonal California cuisine that feels right at home in a mountain lodge. Breakfast fuels park days, while dinner offers comforting yet elevated dishes best enjoyed after sunset.

The Tavern is more relaxed — perfect for craft cocktails, local beers, and casual bites. It’s also a popular gathering spot, whether you’re warming up by the fire or unwinding after a full day in Yosemite.

Try Something Unexpected: Glass Blowing at Rush Creek

One of the most memorable experiences at Rush Creek is the on-site glass blowing workshop. Led by an expert instructor, this hands-on class walks you through the basics of shaping molten glass into your own custom piece. In about 45 minutes you’ll learn the basics of hot glass art and create your own piece to take home (ready after proper annealing).

No experience is required, and the finished product becomes a one-of-a-kind souvenir from your Yosemite trip. We created Christmas ornaments! It’s creative, fun, and a refreshing change of pace from traditional outdoor activities.

A short drive away, Evergreen Lodge Yosemite delivers classic historic lodge charm with modern comforts. The property features:

The restaurant focuses on comforting, crowd-pleasing dishes perfect after a day near Hetch Hetchy, while the tavern’s laid-back atmosphere makes it easy to linger.

Firefall Ranch Yosemite

Firefall Ranch offers a more contemporary take on mountain lodging with standout dining. The on-site YOVA Restaurant features California-inspired cuisine, seasonal ingredients, and a curated wine list — ideal for a date night or celebratory dinner.

The ranch also includes a casual tavern serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making it easy to enjoy great food without leaving the property. The focaccia and trio of dipping oils was absolutely amazing which we almost enjoyed more than the Tomahawk steak.
